“In 1984 a press officer called me and asked if I wanted to photograph either singers Cyndi Lauper or Madonna. I had no idea who to choose so obviously went for the name.
When Madonna arrived at the studio with an entourage of brash noisy New Yorkers I knew I had made the right choice.  A breath of fresh air and so unlike the British female artists I was used to dealing with. Madonna knew precisely how she wanted to be photographed and when she left we knew a major talent was about to emerge.”
