“My first job as a newspaper photographer was with a local weekly paper in North London, during which time I witnessed and photographed some of the squalid living conditions that still existed in the poorer areas of Paddington and Notting Hill in the sixties. The playground for working class kids in London in the 60’s were the bomb sites that still remained after the blitz and the Second World War. Guns, steel helmets and gas masks were the order of the day.”
