“The first newspaper publication was of a fire that consumed a house close to where I lived in North London.  My father drove me with my film to the London Daily Mirror one of Britains biggest selling daily newspapers and after developing the film the picture editor came to see me in the waiting room and suggested I should leave school and start to work in news photography. That led to my first job as a “runner boy” in a news agency delivering pictures to the newspapers that sat on both sides of the famous news centre of London, Fleet Street.”
