“I was a big supporter of Save the Children Fund and flew to Vietnam in 1972 to photograph the work they were doing with orphaned children. This little girl like so many in the war had been terribly injured by a mine. The image still remains for me one of the most difficult I have recorded.

My photographic life changed dramatically after covering the last days of the war in Vietnam. I flew back with images of the evacuation in Saigon and the Delta and three days later the war was over. And the interest in images from Vietnam evaporated. “
