Jill Furmanovsky recalls, ” Before The Face existed I had refused all studio sessions on the pretext that I was a location photographer. In reality I was afraid of all the complicated equipment because I’d never been trained on it. With press sessions galore on offer from record companies, there was now motivation to learn. In January 1981 I bought a second-hand Hasselblad and portable studio light which I kept in the boot of my car. Having mastered that bit of equipment on location, with artists like Nick Heyward of Haircut 100 and The Pretenders in Scotland, I ventured into a studio.” (extract from Jill’s book The Moment
