Anne Lister, who lived in the early part of the 19th century, underwent a church ceremony with her partner Ann Walker in 1834. The church in York is considered to be the site of the first lesbian marriage. Lister, well-educated and independently wealthy, had numerous same sex relationships throughout her life and recorded the details of these in her diaries, in coded form. With the help of AI, a figurine has been created to give substance to a life that has existed on the margins of recorded history.
